In the fall semester of 2015, Kimberly Rose, a sophomore at Southern Methodist University, really felt that SMU was missing out by not offering a Dance Marathon where students could make a difference in the lives of so many children. She was familiar with Dance Marathon, as her sister was a very active committee member with Indiana University Dance Marathon. Kimi knew her sister's experience had been life-changing and ultimately she embraced the challenge of finding others who would share her passion.
By late fall 2015, Kimi had put together an Executive Board, and plans began to take shape. They obtained a faculty advisor and became recognized as a university organization.
Committees were then off and running! The first Dance Marathon was held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 and raised over $32,000 FOR THE KIDS!
SMUDM is so excited to see where they will go from here!
